In the UK highly paid chiefs in the public sector, like BBC chiefs and other fat cats on huge salaries, will be “named and shamed” under new Government proposals to cut spending unveiled yesterday by economic genius Prime Minister Gordon Brown (pictured above). Highly-paid BBC staff, doctors, judges, Health Service bosses and local government chiefs will all be forced to publicly justify their earnings if they are more than £150,000 a year under the reforms outlined by New Labour aimed at tackling the “culture of excess”. They will have to write to the relevant government minister setting out why they are worth such a large sum and then face the embarrassment of having the letter published.

Talk about locking the stable door after the horse has bolted – a classic example of how Parliament (above) singularly fails to respond to public opinion until all the time-servers there need our votes. This government, with Gormless Gord in charge of finance, has now been in power for over 12 years. But it seems that it only occurs to them now, with an election looming, that public spending on a bunch of preening, overpaid, arrogant incompetents  is running out of control. Typically, they chose the easiest, populist targets at the top of these wasteful pyramids rather than advocating action over the real money-wasters – . the bloated army of useless jobsworths in the civil service and town halls, filling in forms, ticking boxes and making work for each other. And if the government wants to cut spending by the biggest shower of publicly funded wastrels, it need look no further than the greedy, grasping no-goods working as MP’s and ministers in Parliament itself.

The Copenhagen Climate Change Summit. As exemplified by the melting polar bear currently standing in that city, pictured above). The event is being presented as the summit that will “save the planet.”  But what the eco-zealots don’t tell you is what this junket is costing, both financially and environmentally. Researchers have estimated that the bill for the 12-day jamboree will top at least £130 million – and will generate as much greenhouse gas as an entire Africa country. And the whole expensive pantomime is being held against the background of the growing scandal over the “ClimateGate” e-mails.

More than 15,000 delegates and 45,000 green activists are due to descend on the Danish capital over the next 2 weeks, not to mention all the bleeding heart celebs and attendant hangers-on. They will be joined by at least 5,000 journalists – including 35 from the BBC alone – and 100 world leaders, including Gordon Brown and Barack Obama. Photo opportunities as our super-heroes preen themselves over 9-course dinners and congratulate each other over their carbon-friendliness. All to provide excuses for politicians to raise taxes and for busybody, arrogant, self-appointed little green eco-fascists to make the lives of the rest of us a bloody misery.

The Head of the Church of England, the Archbishop of Canterbury, has called on American Anglicans to block the appointment of a lesbian bishop. Dr Rowan Williams warned that the selection of a new gay bishop could push the already divided Anglican church over the edge into a full-blown schism. The Archbishop spoke out after leaders of the Church of England’s sister church in Los Angeles chose 55-year-old Reverend Mary Glasspool (pictured above) as an assistant bishop. Dr Williams said the choice raised “serious questions” and warned it was a “threat to the bonds that tie 77 million Anglicans together.” And presumably with his well publicised preference for the introduction of Sharia Law, Dr Williams feels antipathy towards not only lesbians in particular but also women in general.

 Pope

The Roman Catholic church yesterday denied that former Hitler Youth and Nazi anti-aircraft gunner Pope Benedict XVI (pictured above) had “health problems” after it emerged that he is to hold his traditional Christmas Eve Midnight Mass 2 hours early. Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi said that the decision to hold the mass at 10 in the evening had been taken nearly 2 months ago. The service would end at midnight rather than starting at midnight in order to “to tire the Pope a bit less” and enable him to retire to bed earlier. Does that mean this “Midnight Mass” is now a “2 hours before Midnight Mass” ? Why not just play a recording of last year’s service at midnight so that their deluded adherents can at least stay in the pub till closing time ?

The media is trying so desperately hard to throw guilt onto us flat-earthers. Have you noticed the time given to our opinions? No? Neither have I.
