CALEDONIAN COMMENT

In his usual dithering manner, UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown (pictured above) authorised his office yesterday to express the view that a proposed protest march by the Islam4UK movement through the English town of Wootton Bassett would be undesirable. His spokesman said that “anything that is considered to be offensive to, or of concern to, families of troops wounded or killed in Afghanistan would be completely inappropriate.” However the leader of Islam4UK  – a branch of the extremist al-Muhajiroun movement – Mr Anjem Choudary has caused outrage with plans for 500 of his “followers” to parade with empty coffins symbolising Muslim victims through the town, which has become famous for honouring service personnel killed in the conflict. 

Mr Choudary (pictured above at another demo, surrounded by the usual dreary entourage of unemployable doctrinal minders) said: “It is worth reminding those who are still not blinded by Western media propaganda that Afghanistan is not a British Town near Wootton Basset (he even got the spelling of Wootton Bassett wrong) but rather a Muslim land”. Fine, Mr Choudary. But it’s worth reminding YOU and your attendant social security claimants that the UK is a non-Muslim land that’s just about had enough of your bullshit. So if you don’t like us, if you hate infidels, if you want Sharia Law – why not just piss off out of OUR country ?

Incidentally, how come we’ve got double standards over this matter ? If a non-Muslim stood up and said the things Choudary says in reverse, he’d be arrested and charged with inciting race and religious hatred quicker that you can say “politically correct”. But maybe we shouldn’t be too surprised, because our governing politicians have a disgraceful track record of appeasing nutcases like this bloke, to the extent that it seems that our insipid New Labour leaders are so scared of alienating inner-city Muslim voters at the forthcoming general election that they’re prepared to put up with the humiliation of letting an objectionable prick like Choudary rub their and our noses in shit.

UK Schools Secretary Ed Balls (pictured above – and yes, foreign readers, this is the cretin in charge of British schools) said yesterday that every secondary school pupil should have the right to learn an “up and coming” language like Mandarin or Arabic.  The Government also wants to encourage primary schools to offer languages such as Japanese and Russian, as well as French and German, from next year, when learning the subject becomes compulsory for all children from the age of 7 years old. Judging by the state of conversational ineptitude and the poor reading and writing skills which many young people in the UK display, Mr Balls might do better to instruct schools to concentrate on teaching the reading and writing of English.

South African President Jacob Zuma has married for the 5th time – giving the Zulu traditionalist his 3rd current wife. The ceremony took place at his traditional home in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal province, where the 68 year old President, dancing in Zulu tribal dress (pictured above), married Tobeka Madiba. The President’s brother, Mike Zuma said : “This is a traditional affair with a lot of dancing and celebrating. Later we will slaughter some animals and have a feast.” Let’s just hope Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi isn’t well enough yet to hear this story and pick up new ideas !
